We have a small, dedicated team of insurance experts at 1 Stop Insurance all focused on finding the policy and premium that best fits your needs. Here they are:
Richard Hiscox – Managing Director
Insurance excellence is what I wanted from day one with 1 Stop Insurance. I think we achieve that based on the client feedback I receive. As the name implies we look to be the 1 Stop for all our clients’ general insurance needs. We constantly re examine what we offer and try to keep the widest possible range of insurer partner from which to select to give our clients real choice and competitiveness.
I came to General Insurance from a Scientific Background, having worked in the pharmaceutical industry on antiviral drug research. Over 30 years ago I swapped the test tubes and bacteria for policy wordings and quotes and haven’t looked back since. Starting with an office at home my father and I have built the company so that we now occupy purpose built premises with 8 employees. We manage insurance premiums totalling in the millions for clients from Lands End to John O’Groats. We must be doing something right in that over 95% of clients renew each year showing the wonderful loyalty we engender.
Science taught me that attention to detail was vital. I have carried that ethos across into 1 Stop and the methods and systems we daily use. We back each clients’ insurance with in depth research and detailed record keeping, treating each client how I would want to be treated if I were them. Whether a client has 1 or 100 policies with us they get the same priority, care and attention as we seek to go above and beyond the regulations that govern our industry.
Personally I’m enjoying being a grandfather (even though I’m far too young for the title you’ll agree) spoiling my grandson rotten and then handing him back to his parents. It’s an excuse to relive your own youth and stay young after all. I am an active member of my local Baptist Church, heading up the technical side of services. I love dismantling anything that doesn’t work, fixing it and strangely having the odd “spare” left over. I am always adding new D.I.Y. skills to my repertoire.
Alan Hiscox – Director
I have spent over 40 years in the Financial Services industry. My wealth of experience, alongside the many contacts I have made en route, has enabled me to be a valuable conduit for any aspect of insurance. I love meeting new people and solving problems whether insurance related or not and putting people in contact with those who can solve their problems.
I am an accomplished pianist and like nothing more than “tickling the ivories” with the odd piece of classical music. I suppose I’m the father figure of 1 Stop, although these days maybe it’s more the grandfather figure! I am constantly impressed by the caring attitude of our staff and know I can trust them to do all they can to help each client I introduce.
Linda Yerlett – Office Manager
I have been with 1 Stop Insurance for nearly 18 years. I initially trained as a radiotherapy radiographer and worked as part of the Westminster Hospital’s bone marrow transplant team treating children suffering from leukaemia. I have 2 married sons and 2 grandchildren, who are the love of my life.
A change in circumstances resulted in me joining 1 Stop Insurance and it was a very steep learning curve, completely different to working as a medical professional. As office manager I attempt to keep the business running smoothly and all the staff and directors happy. One of the things I hope I bring to the business is an empathetic and helpful approach to all our clients. I particularly enjoy helping our more ‘senior’ clients, making sure they do not have any worries about their insurances. As a company we pride ourselves in offering a very bespoke and personal service.
Outside of work I am a keen cook and gardener. I love growing fruit and vegetables, taking them straight into the kitchen to be cooked. I am an active member of a local Church where my husband is the treasurer. I am invariably found in the kitchen preparing food and washing up.
Sally Pleasance- Administrator
I have been with 1 Stop Insurance for over 15 years and work as part of a close nit team who all pride themselves on offering each client a professional yet personal service. I came from the banking sector but enjoy the real difference I can make as part of 1 Stop, in making insurance for our clients painless and trouble free. Married with grown up children I place a high value on family. Many clients are almost like family after many years helping them and I enjoy building new relationships with client who contact us to advise and assist them.
I am a keen networker and for the past few years have even run my own local group which has grown steadily. My view is insurance needn’t be boring and if we can have a laugh then we will.
Michele Brown- Administrator
I started work as a Hairdresser and after a bad hair day !!, I moved into the Financial Services Sector.
I have worked within this Company since the year 2000, initially working with Alan Hiscox Financial Services, our old life and pensions arm before moving to 1 Stop Insurance Consultants.
I live in Sussex with my 3 lovely daughters & partner and our recently acquired golden Labrador called Honey.
When time allows, I love to cook and potter about in my garden although looking after that lot that is little and often.
The commute to the office can be “trying” with the delights of the M25 but one of the things that I enjoy about working at 1 Stop is the closeness between members of staff. We have all been here for so many years that it feels like one big family. The girls are like sisters, Richard like a big brother and Alan like an annoying father. I am sure that this is obvious when you contact us as we give a very friendly response and enjoy a bit of banter with our clients.
Claire McCall- Administrator
My name is Claire and I am the newest member of the team – saying that I have been here since 2006! I was previously working in the retail sector and so used to dealing with the general public.
I went to the same school as two of the directors, a few years after them though. It is a Boys Grammar school. (They opened up the 6th form to a few girls by way of explanation in case you were worried…)
I deal with both the Personal and Commercial insurance enquiries and take pride in my attention to detail. I have also been told that I have a very good memory. As I am able to easily remember clients and cases months later.
In my spare time I enjoy baking, which goes down very well in the office. I have also recently taken up yoga, and got back into horse riding after a very long break.
Anna Wilkinson- Business Development Executive
I’m Anna and am excited to be the latest recruit at 1 Stop Insurance Consultants Ltd. I join the company in 2017, having initially began my insurance career in 2009. I bring a wealth of general insurance knowledge but importantly, also a background that helps me give a personal touch to all I do. It is vital for me to get to know my clients in order to focus on what each may need & want from their insurance cover. I will ask questions but importantly also listen and then seek to source the best policies, premiums and covers for you.
Like many at 1Stop my career hasn’t always been in the insurance industry. After I finished my education in 2006, I worked in Audience Production alongside the iconic and long running series of BBC Question Time. This and the roles I moved into after it, taught me the value of interpersonal skills and that simply taking time to talk to people was vital to long term success. I enjoy networking, keeping up to date with social media topics, writing articles on Linkedin and other forums where I can reach new people and help them get the best cover possible whether via me or from whoever is currently meeting their insurance needs.
Insurance is a big part of my life because I will always make time for my connections, but in my free time I enjoy photography, spending time with my family & my church and generally anything that will get me outside as much as possible. I have 2 small dogs, a passion for water (be that in it or on it) I love to cycle (off road) and I will often unwind with a casual jog (dogs included.)
Working from a home office in Sittingbourne and the head office in Wallington means that I can be flexible to your arrangements. You will be likely to find me out & about in the South East and I look forward to doing business with you.
