ImageWe have extensive experience in insuring computers and this together with recent statistics show the incidence of theft is increasing.

The loss of machines can have a dramatic effect on the profitability of a business or our personal lives since we are so reliant on this useful technology.

So what can you do to reduce the likelihood of you becoming part of the statistic?

DO
•    Keep quiet about deliveries – theft is most likely in the 1st 72 hours.
•    A large amount of theft happens between 7 & 9pm.
•    If travelling take your laptop as hand luggage.
•    Use a padded carry case but not one that advertising its contents.
•    Keep drinks away from computers. They don’t mix well.
•    Be vigilant and aware of those around you.
•    When not in use make sure your computers are secure.
•    Back up your important data. Simple but strangely not often done.

DON’T
•    Leave your laptop unattended in a public place.
•    Leave your computer on display in your car (17% of crime was thefts of or from vehicles)
•    Use your laptop sensibly, as a computer and nothing else.
•    Put pens near the laptop keyboard and then close it.
•    Leave your laptop in a luggage rack, you must have it under your control.
